To help celebrate the 50th anniversary of Norway’s decriminalization of homosexuality, we wanted to take a look back at the history of Norwegian queer short film.
Throughout film history, we have seen variable (and questionable) representations of gays and lesbians also in our feature films, but the production of queer short films got a bit of a late start in Norway – but what a development we’ve experienced! Our queer shorts have made a splash at festivals at home, but after raking up awards on the international festival circuit, it was only a question of time before the national film award Amanda bowed to some these amazing films.
These two programs are presented in chronological order. We want to thank all the pioneers and all who have come up after – we cannot wait to see what the next 30 years will bring!
