When Ruben Östlund won the Palme d’Or in Cannes for the second time, with Triangle of Sadness in 2022, Kalle Boman was the first he wanted to thank, with a standing ovation. Boman has been Östlund’s mentor ever since he was his teacher at Filmhöskolan in Göteborg.

Boman is important for so many filmmakers and has worked closely with Roy Anderson and Bo Widerberg, amongst others. He has also worked with Axel danielson and Maximilien Van Aertryck on several films, the latest being And the King Said, What a Fantastic Machine, which is also a part of Kathleen McInnis’ masterclass at this years festival.

Kalle Boman Has an unique ability to inspire and challenge the filmmakers that he works with, to the degree that several have achieved great international success. The Norwegian Short Film Festival whish to honor Bomans life long work with a conversation in the art work “Ruta”, which was gifted Grimstad municipality for their city jubilee in 2017, by Ruben Östlund himself.
