Films in Norwegian Short Competition

• Filmens regissør eller hovedprodusent må være norsk eller bosatt i Norge. 
• Foreign language films with Norwegian director may apply. 
• Short Fiction films must not exceed 35 mins in length. 
• Short Documentary films must not exceed 40 mins in length.

Deadlines

• Films completed prior to 15th March 2019 will automatically be disqualified.
• Submission deadline is Monday 16th March 2020.

Films accepted into competition will be notified beginning of April 2020.Screening file must be delivered/transferred to the festival by 17th April 2020. 

If file is not delivered in time, the festival reserve the right to remove the film from competition. Submission fee is non-refundable.

Submissions

Submitter must give a full and correct list of film credits and specifications upon entry.

Submitter must own the film rights in order to submit, and be prepared to show documentation should the festival require it. The festival reserve the right to pull the film from the program should submitter fail to show documentation and/or in any other way give wrongful information. 

Rating of submitted films

Submissions are screened by a selection committee appointed by the festival. The committee will give their recommendations for the competition program, but the final decision is the Artistic Director’s to make. The decision is final and cannot be appealed.

Use of material

If selected, the festival must freely use images (stills and video clips submitted) for non-commercial promotion of the film, the screenings and the festival during the year of submission. This includes, but is not limited to, printed and online program, flyers, banners, and other promotional material for The Norwegian Short Film Festival 2020.

Selected films in competition may be shown up to five – 5 – times during the festival (including reruns and special screenings), as well as in a “Best of” program after the festival. Additional screenings will be held only in agreement with rights holder(s).

Technical specs

Most formats are accepted, but the festival reserves the right to convert any format to DCP. If in doubt, please contact petter@kortfilmfestivalen.no

The Norwegian Short Film Festival is an international film festival, and all films in competition must have English subtitles.
