Norwegian Short Film

Jason Anderson
is the lead programmer for Short Cuts for the Toronto International Film Festival. He is also the director of programming for Aspen Shortsfest, an Oscar-qualifying event that is one of the premier short film festivals in the U.S., and for the Kingston Canadian Film Festival, the country’s largest standalone festival of Canadian cinema.

Yenni Lee
is a director and screenwriter with an MFA from Valand Academy in Gothenburg, Sweden. She has made her mark as a filmmaker with several award nominations at festivals such as The Norwegian Short Film Festival, Nordisk Panorama, Black Nights Film Festival, Gothenburg Film Festival, Locarno Festival, SXSW and Outfest Los Angeles.

Adam Piron
is a member of the Sundance Film Festival’s Short Film Programming Team and also programs shorts for AFI Fest and Film Independent’s LA Film Festival. From 2014 to 2017, he served as a Manager for Sundance Institute’s Native American and Indigenous Film Program. Piron has served on competition juries and panels for film festivals such as imagineNATIVE Film Festival, Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Maoriland Film Festival, Palm Springs International Shortfest, Hot Springs Film Festival, and Art House Convergence. 

The jury is appointed by The Norwegian Short Film Festival and awards The Golden Chair for Best Norwegian Short Film, as well as The Terje Vigen Award. Gullstolen til beste norske kortfilm, i tillegg til Terje Vigen-prisen.

Short Documentary

Mette Cheng Munthe-Kaas
is an Emmy nominated and award-winning producer, interactive producer, and feature documentary film editor. She started her career as an editor and has continued this work for the past 20 years. In 2014 she founded her Norwegian production company, Ten Thousand Images AS, for which she produced and edited the award-winning documentary NO WORD FOR WORRY (2014).

Mads Mikkelsen
is a programmer at CPH:DOX, Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, since 2008. CPH:DOX is one of the largest documentary festivals in the world, with an internationally recognized profile that borders on staging, visual art and performance, as well as other art forms.

Anne-Marie Söhrman Fermelin 
is Head of Development ved Filmbasen/Film Stockholm and Program Manager for STHLM Debut. Filmbasen is an incubator and a platform for young Swedish filmmakers from the region of Stockholm, focusing on financing and talent development concentrated to shorts, documentaries, features and new media.

The jury is appointed by The Norwegian Short Film Festival and awards The Golden Chair for Best Short Documentary.

Music Video

Andrea Berentsen Ottmar
has since 2012 produced more than 30 short films, music videos and documentaries through her own production company Frokost Film. Here she has worked with many directors; André Chocron, Thea Hvistendahl, Kenneth Karlstad, and Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel, among others. She has worked as a producer for Ape&Bjørn, as customer manager in VICE Norway, and since 2018, as a producer for Oslo Pictures.

Scott Devendorf
is a New York based multi-instrumentalist, best known as the bass guitarist of the Grammy Award-winning rock band
THE NATIONAL. Devendorf is also a founding member of the experimental music project LNZNDRF, who released their eponymous debut in February 2016 on 4AD, and is currently working on new music for 2020.

Tori Wrånes
Tori Wrånes is a vocalist and artist with a transmedial artistic practice, unfolding as performances, sculptures, videos or installations. Her use of sounds, musical instruments, costumes, props, architecture, and sculptures deforms her appearance and creates new rituals and dreamlike constellations. Choreography with sound might be a good way to describe her work, be it solo or with multiple performers, like opera singers on bikes, musicians in a chairlift, or a singing rock.

The jury is appointed by The Norwegian Short Film Festival and awards The Golden Chair for Best Music Video.

 

International Short Film

Kim Yutani
is the Director of Programming of the Sundance Film Festival, a role she assumed in 2018. She began programming short films for the festival in 2006, and became a feature film programmer in 2009, focusing on US and international fiction feature films, overseeing short film programming, and working on the festival’s Offscreen panels and conversations. She was instrumental in creating Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong.

Victoria Carmen Sonne
got her degree from The Danish National School of Theatre in 2016. She was immediately cast in Rasmus Heisterberg's IN THE BLOOD, a role for which she won her first Bodil, the Danish Critic's Award. In 2017, she went on to star in Hlynur Palmason's festival hit, WINTER BROTHERS and won a Robert Award for her performance. She received much attention and critical acclaim for her performance in Isabella Eklöf's HOLIDAY, which world premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2018, and for which she won her second Bodil Award, among others.

Håvard Gossé
has a degree in film from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), and is an established and active producer based in Trondheim, Norway. Through his company Spætt Film, he has produced numerous short fiction and documentary films, including the Amanda Award nominated FOUL (2014), directed by Rune Denstad Langlo. For his work in the regional film industry, he received NTNU's Film Award during Kosmorama International Film Festival 2020, and earlier this year his short documentary TRAIN ROBBERS (Togrøvere, Martin Walther, 2019) screened at Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival.

The jury is appointed by The Norwegian Short Film Festival and award The Golden Chair for Best International Short Film.

 

 

The Norwegian Film Critics' Award

Jan Storø
is a dosent at OsloMet, a film critic for Khrono, an online paper for universities and high schools, as well as a contributor at Znett.no. His main film interests are arthouse and films from the south.

Torgeir Blok
is a producer, director and screenwriter, with a background in television. He has 12 years experience as a journalist and film critic for magazines Cinema and Natt&Dag, and CultCinema.net, and his personal passion is quirky short films.

Cornelius C. Steinkjer
is a freelance journalist and film critic based in Oslo. He writes about film for Subjekt.no and has contributed to other publications, such as Montages.no. 

The jury is appointed by the Norwegian Film Critics' Association.

The Norwegian Film Workers Association’s Technical Award

Irasj Asanti
is Kurdish-Iranian, but grew up in Norway.
He got his degree in acting From Nordic Black Theatre in Oslo, and works as a screenwriter, actor and director. He has written and directed several short films and TV series which have been screened at festivals and television around the world. In 2015 he directed the feature HØVDINGER, which was nominated for the Kanon Award and released in cinemas in 2017. His latest short film, BREAK ME, won the BLIKK Audience Award at Oslo/Fusion Int. Film Festival 2019. Asanti is currently editing the short film SAND, with production funding from the Norwegian Film Institute NFI. He’s keeping busy, and is also working on a feature action thriller with development funds from the NFI. Asanti jobber for tiden med å klippe sin siste kortfilm SAND som fikk produksjonsstøtte fra NFI. 

Christine Bozenski
is a set designer based in Oslo. She has worked on several Norwegian productions since 1999, including the feature films An Enemy of the People, Max Manus, and Happy Happy, as well as the TV series Mammon, Lykkeland, and Heimebane.

Runar Sørheim
is a cinematographer based in Oslo. He graduated from the Norwegian Film School in 2014, and has worked on several short films, including Mother’s Man, explosions in the heart, and No Man Is An Island - all screened at the Short Film Festival. He has also worked with tv series and had a solo exhibition of his still photographies at Oslo’s House of Photography.

The jury is appointed by The Norwegian Film Workers Association.

The Hourglass Award

Nina Wester
is a playwright and theatre director. She studied at Dramatiske institutet in Stockholm and now works in Norway and Sweden with contemporary drama. Wester won the national theatre award Hedda for her production Vi som er hundre (“We who are a hundred”) in 2010. Formerly a artistic director at the regional Hålogaland theatre in Tromsø from 2013 to 2016, she is now a freelancer based in Oslo. Wester is also a board member at Writer’s Guild of Norway.
Vi som er hundre på Rogaland Teater. Wester var i 2013-2016 teatersjef ved Hålogaland Teater i Tromsø og arbeider nå som frilanser med Oslo som base. Hun er også styremedlem i Dramatikerforbundet.

Magne Pettersen
is screenwriter, director, and CEO of Retriever Film. Originally from Sandnessjøen, Norway, he has written and directed ten short films and seven music videos since 2000, and over the last ten years he has developed four feature film projects, some in collaboration with Zentropa and with Evil Doghouse Productions. Magne taught writing and directing at the Noroff film school in Oslo from 2011 to 2019, and he worked on Roy Anderssons feature film “You, the Living” in 2006.

The jury is appointed by The Writer’s Guild of Norway

 

The Spark Award

Ingvild Evjemo
is a producer at 4 1/2. She has worked in the Norwegian and German film industry for years, and contributed in several award-winning productions such as Mercy by Matthias Glasner and Hans Petter Moland’s Out Stealing Horses. She produces short films, feature films, and television dramas, and received an Amanda Award nomination for her latest feature film, Cattle Hill, in 2019.

Svein Aronsen
is the team leader in Altibox, responsible for TV and content. He has degrees in film photography and editing, and has produced for television, lectured at Stavanger university, been Head of Development at NRK, and ran a private production company in Stavanger.

Tore Tomter
is a consulting buyer at Altibox, responsible for short film, documentary, and animation. He formerly worked for NRK, where he from 1991 was responsible for documentary acquisitions.

The jury is appointed by Altibox in cooperation with the Norwegian Short Film Festival.
