Jon Endre Mørk has worked as a film editor for the past 30 years, in fiction, documentaries, music videos and commercials. He has edited a wide range of feature films, theatrical documentaries, TV dramas, short films and short documentaries, including Cold Prey, The Crossing and Voice. For his work on the short documentary New York 81, he received the Norwegian Film Association’s Technical Award at Kortfilmfestivalen 2023.
About his motivation for joining the jury, he says:
«I am interested in the narration and dissemination of everything from political films to the personal essay, and enjoy films exploring their forms and perhaps primarily have a message to convey. Engaging films are made in all genres and formats, depending on the desire and ability to generate curiosity and emotions. I have worked a lot with storytelling, but not yet had an opportunity to be on a jury to assess the work and efforts of others. This will be an exciting experience to be part of.”
Luise Nes is educated at Westerdals and has worked at Stella Casting since 2013, where she worked her way up from short film and assistant jobs to casting director for TV series and feature films. Since 2022, she is also General Manager at Stella Casting.
Casting major productions such as Heimebane and Okkupert, Luise describes how her experience can be useful in jury work:
«Although my expertise is primarily in casting, we as casters are a large part of a production. We usually join the pre-production’s early stage, get to know the script and the director’s vision well, and are part of the process that really shapes the project until shooting starts.»
C. S. Nicholson has a degree in screenwriting from the University of Westminster, but has mainly worked as film editor, director and editor in the Norwegian TV industry. In recent years, his focus has been on producing and directing his own more experimental films, and his short documentary The Discoverer of the Discoverers has played well at numerous international festivals.
As for his motivation for being on this jury, he says:
«As a budding filmmaker new to the festival circuit, I want to experience what it’s like to be ‘on the other side’, and gain insight into the various processes and phases in a film’s life, from all angles.
At the same time, I have extensive professional experience, and as an editor you become detail-oriented when it comes to photography, acting, edit rhythm, musicality, structure, storytelling, sound design, use of music, etc. The biggest inspiration in the last couple of years has been festival marathons, with one short film program after another. So I’m very happy for this opportunity to experience what people have come up with for this year’s edition of the Norwegian Short Film Festival.»
