We are very happy to be able to invite John Ajvide Lindquist to The Norwegian Short Film Festival this year!

John Ajvide Lindqvist is known as a writer of both novels and screenplays, but has previously worked as both magician and stand-up comedian. Due to the dark nature of his books, Lindqvist is rightly considered Sweden’s Master of Horror.

His debut novel, Let The Right One In was first published in 2004, and has since then been made into two feature films and a TV series. In 2018, the feature film Border was released, based on his short story of the same name, with Lindqvist adapting his screenplay and Ali Abbasi directing. The trailblazing film won the prestigious Un Certain Regard in Cannes that year, and went on to receive an Oscar® nomination for hair and makeup.

This year, the adaptation of his 2018 novel, Handling the Undead, will be released. Director is Norwegian Thea Hvistendahl, a veteran at the Festival with short films and music videos in competition. Lindqvist and Hvistendahl will also join us for Film Talk Saturday June 10th at 5:30 pm.

This conversation is in collaboration with The Writers’ Guild of Norway, and is also part of their concept Dramatisk SOFA (Dramatic Couch).

Saturday June 10th at 2 pm /  Catilina
