The Outdoor Cinema is an annual tradition when The Norwegian Short Film Festival comes home to Grimstad. Located in the heart of town, at Wenzelsplass, between Apotekergaarden and The Ibsen Museum, this is an ideal opportunity to experience a little “hygge” with a great feature film on a summer’s night under the stars.

This year’s film is for anyone who has ever encountered an actual photograph and social media. After world premiering at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, this film received the Special Jury Award for Creative Vision, and the month after, the youth jury of Berlinale Generation 14plus gave it their Honorable Mention – this truly unique and insightful film will have the broadest target audience:

Directed by Axel Danielson og Maximilien Van Aertryck, this Swedish and Danish co-production will take us through the technological development of moving pictures – from the earliest cameras to today’s cacophony of online viral videos and live streaming.
From Camera Obscura and the Lumiére brothers, to the YouTube generation and the social media boom – this film documents how we went from capturing the image of a backyard to a multi-billion industry in just 200 years.
Do not miss this funny, captivating and thought-provoking film, produced by Swedish Platform Produktion, and executive produced by Erik Hemmendorff and Ruben Östlund.
