The Sundance Film Festival is an annual gathering of the most exciting, electric, emerging and established voices in American and international art cinema. Established by the visionary Robert Redford, the Festival has been a place of discovery for some of the brightest shorts & feature filmmakers, new media artists, and musicians for 40 years.

After two online editions, the Festival returned to bringing audiences together in Park City, Utah in January 2023, while also continuing to bring terrific independent filmmaking voices to audiences online. In 2023, Sundance featured 64 short films from across the United States and globe, chosen from a pool of nearly 11,000 submissions.

This program is curated from selections from the 2023 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Program for presentation at The Norwegian Short Film Festival by Sundance Senior Programmer Heidi Zwicker. These shorts represent a cross section of the short film work presented at this year’s Sundance, showcasing the diversity of voice, style and genre that our programming team found within the outstanding short films they were able to program this year.
