The Sundance Film Festival is an annual gathering of the most exciting, electric, emerging and established voices in American and international art cinema. Established by the visionary Robert Redford, the Festival has been a place of discovery for some of the brightest shorts & feature filmmakers, new media artists, and musicians for 40 years.
For the past two editions, the Festival has taken place online, innovating the function and form of the festival in the independent film landscape. In 2022, Sundance featured 59 short films from across the United States and globe, curated from a pool of over 10,000 submissions.
This program is curated from selections from the 2022 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Program for presentation at The Norwegian Short Film Festival by Sundance programmer Ash Hoyle. These shorts represent a cross section of the 2022 short film catalog. These selections touch on some of the strands that keep Sundance’s short film program vibrant – genre bending documentaries, imaginative animation, heartfelt stories, and a healthy dose of irreverence. These selections hail from the US, UK, Nigeria, Chile, Mexico, and Canada.
