School screenings

Elementary school screenings

Passion for film can begin at a very young age. That is why it is important for us in the Short Film Festival to offer a good and varied program that can delight and inspire the kids. This program is aimed at elementary school students, with fun Pixar-inspired animation in movies like «Treasure» and «Le cri", stop-motion animated movies like «The Landing», and movies that also offer some food for thought and can make the kids reflect, such as «Trapped» and «The Great Overflow».

#Innestengt

March 2020. Schools are closing, and children are being home schooled. An important historical retrospect on this strange first period when Norway closed down.

Treasure

Two explorers in search of a forgotten treasure disturb the romance between an octopus and his beloved.

Le cri

A dreadful scream pierces through the silence of a sleepy residence. What happened? The investigation begins.

The Great Overflow

After a great flood, Pää floats down the river on the roof of his house. Soon he is joined by Nif and together they travel downstream and out into the ocean.

The Landing

A girl is spending the day in a zoo with her mom and a bunch of other tourists. Suddenly an unknown ship floats into the dock of the zoo and two strange-looking creatures step out.

Zara and the others: Miss miss

Zara has never heard of a beauty pageant, she only knows the girls in class say it's a way to decide who the prettiest girl is.

Middle school screenings

Films can offer security, relatability and a sense of unity, and perhaps this is never more important than in adolescence. This program includes films from all around the world that address friendship, infatuation, religion, bullying and social awareness, films that can inspire and touch young hearts.

Armadila

A tough thirteen year old girl struggles to keep her emotions in check, whether concerning her missing dog or the boy she likes.

Moving Forward

Summer is coming to an end. Tomorrow Misha moves abroad, while Fanny stays in their hometown.

Leap

Everyday, when leaving school, Violet sees a group of kids harass, bully and mock another kid. Confronted with this injustice, Violet is inspired by what she admires most: a superhero.

The Dance Class/The Field Trip/The Prom

Three short films about dreams, prejudice and exclusion, based on the true stories of several children and adolescents. The short films are a part of Save the Children’s campaign on children’s rights to play and leisure.

High school screenings

How are you supposed to keep your childhood friendships when you finish high school and move far apart? How do you navigate your emotions in your first serious relationship? How can your name, background and appearance define you and your identity? Perhaps the films in the VGS program can help find the answers to this.
