Rakan Mayasi

Rakan Mayasi is a Palestinian writer, producer and director, born in Germany and based in Brussels. He studied Cinema, Theatre & Psychology in Lebanon and then film at the Asian Film Academy in South Korea. He has written and directed several short films, including Roubama, which premiered at Locarno Film Festival in 2012. Bonboné, about Palestinian sperm smuggling from Israeli jails, world premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017 and has since received 29 best short film awards at international film festivals. His fourth short, Trumpets in the Sky, explores cinema as a contemplative medium of visual poetry, metaphor, and mythology.
