Marja Bål Nango is a director, screenwriter and producer. She studied directing at Nordland College of Art and Film, and is producing in a special collaboration between International Sámi Film Institute and Sámi University.
She wrote, directed and produced the short film Hilbes biigá, which screened at nearly 30 film festivals, winning the UR Award for Best Film at Uppsala Int. Film Festival.
In 2020, her latest short, The Tongues won Best International Short at Palm Springs Shortfest, Best Director at Rhode Island Film Festival and qualified for the Academy Awards with Best Live Action Short at ImagineNative Film Festival.
Marja was named Sundance Film Festival’s 2021 Merata Mita fellow and received a year-long support of her feature film I love my Guoðoheaddji, which is developed through the Sundance Screenwriters Lab 2022.
