KD Jury - SONJA BAKSA

Sonja Baksa is Associate International Programmer for Short Cuts at the Toronto International Film Festival, and Programmer & Program Lead at the Vancouver International Film Festival.
She holds an MSc in Film, Exhibition and Curation from The University of Edinburgh, and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Zagreb.
Working in different areas of cultural production, she has collaborated with artists and organisations across Croatia, France, UK, and Canada. Her niche interest in art, space and the occult in cinema has extended into academic research, curatorial projects, and written pieces for various art publications.

KD Jury - FABIEN GREENBERG

Fabien Greenberg is an award-winning Norway-based French director and producer with a BA in Film & Photography from Napier University, Edinburgh. His graduation film was shown in the Cinefondation programme at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004.

He is a co-founder of Antipode Films where he produced, among others, Radiograph of a Family, winner of Best Documentary Award and Beeld & Geluid Reframe Award at IDFA in 2020, and No Other Land, winner of the Berlinale Best Documentary Award and Panorama  Audience Award at the Berlinale in 2024.

He also directed several feature documentaries, including Line (2018), Little Axel (2021), and most recently, Norwegian Democrazy, which just had its international premiere at HotDocs 2024.

KD Jury - MELANIE MILLER

Melanie Miller is an Academy Award-winning producer and co-founder of Fishbowl Films. Her documentary films include Inventing Tomorrow, which was awarded a Peabody in 2019, On the Divide, and Stutz. Navalny won the US Documentary Audience Award and the Festival Favorite at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and was also awarded a DuPont, PGA, BAFTA, and the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature.

Other recent credits include the docu-series The Program: Cons, Cults and Kidnapping, Equal, Marvel 616 and Trial by Media.  Currently in limited theatrical release in the US is Maestra, which had its world premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival and maintains a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Melanie is a member of the DPA, the PGA, ATAS, and AMPAS.

KD Jury 4 - SHANE SMITH

Shane Smith is a documentary programmer for TVO. From 2015- 2023 he was programming and artistic director at Hot Docs, North America’s largest Festival and Market for documentary film. Smith previously worked at the Toronto International Film Festival as the director of special projects at TIFF Bell Lightbox. Before this he was the director of public programs at TIFF.

 

Prior to joining TIFF he worked as Executive Producer, In-Flight Entertainment at Spafax, overseeing entertainment on Air Canada. He was previously Director of Programming at Channel Zero Inc, overseeing the digital cable operators programming of Silver Screen Classics and Movieola- the Short Film Channel. Other positions include Director of the CFC Worldwide Short Film Festival, Short Film Programmer for the Sundance Film Festival, Founder and Co-Director of OzFlix: Australian Film Weekend and Programmer for Inside Out LGBTQ Film Festival.

 

KD Jury - NATAŠA URBAN

Nataša Urban is a film director working professionally since 2005. Her films have been screened at international film festivals worldwide and have received over 40 awards. Her latest film, The Eclipse, has won several international awards, including DOX:AWARD – the main award at the CPH:DOX 2022, and Doc Alliance Award Special Mention.
It was shortlisted for EFA Documentary Award, nominated for EUFA and was one of Cineuropa’s 25 best films of 2022. The Eclipse screened at major film festivals worldwide, including IDFA, Leipzig, DocLisboa, Sarajevo, Vancouver, and MoMA Documentary Fortnight in NYC.
