This documentary focuses on Aleksandr Medvedkin and his CineTrain – a sort of living, mobile film workshop complete with post-production facilities, animation stations and a large film lab, travelling across the Soviet Union in the 1930s. Traveling thousands of miles, the train would stop so filmmakers could document Ukrainian harvest practices, Soviet steel production facilities in the south, and other industrial/agricultural matters of interest. Each filmmaker had a 1 sq. meter living quarters and were responsible for various odd-jobs and practical matters in addition to their own filmmaking.
