Cinétracts are a series of short documentaries, all between 2 and 4 minutes long. Directed anonymously by several famous French filmmakers, these «tracts» were meant to be in contrast with France’s official news coverage of the May uprising in Paris in 1968 (Mai ’68). Filmmakers and workers have enthusiastically tackled the news footage with text, film and collage, and the result is a collection of hard-hitting, enlightening and dynamic films. Here we present a selection of seven films of the 41 that were made.
