Oleksandra Ikonnikova and her 6-year-old daughter Nadiia spend three weeks at a Ukrainian field hospital for the wounded of heart. Oleksandra, is suffering acute post-traumatic stress while Nadiia has stopped eating.
Katharine Lake Berz is a freelance journalist who writes about how national and international issues impact people. Her first film, Unbroken, portrays Ukrainian trauma survivors fighting to stay alive. She holds a bachelor of commerce degree from Queen’s University, a master of philosophy degree in international relations from Cambridge University and was a fellow in the Fellowship of Global Journalism at the University of Toronto.
