Arild Østin Ommundsen (b. 1969) is an award-winning Norwegian director. He studied directing at Stavanger University College. After making short films in the latter half of the 1990s – including Before Sunrise, which won the Golden Chair at the Norwegian Short Film Festival in Grimstad in 1999 – he made his debut as a feature film director with Mongoland in 2001, which won the Golden Clapper from the National Film Award Amanda Committee in 2001. He is also known for Monster Thursday (2004), Rat Nights (2009), It’s Only Make Believe (2013) and the latest film in the Twigson-trilogy (2011). His latest feature film, Tottori! The summer we found our superpowers (2020), won two Amanda awards at the Norwegian Film Festival in Haugesund and 23 international awards.
