Submissions for the International Short Film Competition 2020 are now closed!

Submissions for The International Competition Program 2021 will open on FilmFreeway in October 2020 and below you will find general information, as well as terms & conditions.

There are two categories for international submissions: Short fiction and Short documentary.

Short fiction film: must not exceed 35 minutes in length. This category is for international selected films only. The selected films will competition for the GOLDEN CHAIR for Best International Short Film, with a cash prize of NOK 50.000 (around 5.000€).

Short documentary film: must not exceed 40 minutes in length. This category will be a mix of Norwegian and international selected films. The selected films will be in competition for the GOLDEN CHAIR for Best Short Documentary Film, with a cash prize of NOK 50.000 (around 5.000€).

Deadline for submission is mid-February 2021 – exact date will be given.

Only completed films are eligible for selection. Works in progress or unfinished films will not be considered. The film must be completed after 15th of February 2019.

A selection committee for each category, appointed by the festival, will evaluate the films and make the final selection. We are not able to give feedback on films or reasons for the committee’s decisions.

Before submitting, please make sure to read our terms and conditions, and have all the information ready; A full list of credits, tech specifications, still photos and a proper synopsis, proofread and shows the essence of your film. If selected, this will be online and in the program.

Your submission should have a screener link (Vimeo, Youtube, or other online platforms not needing a log in). If you are selected for competition we require a projection copy or file for the theater in Grimstad. Standard format is DCP, but we accept other formats to convert. Notifications will be sent all filmmakers in the beginning of March. If selected, a projection copy/file of the film must be delivered or transferred by mid-April – exact date will be given.

Submission fee is NOK 150,- (approx. 15 Euro/ 15 USD), submissions for International Short Film will go through FilmFreeway.
